Overall Quality
Maintain a healthy lifestyle by staying active with the Freemotion 850 Treadmill. The 3.5 CHP EnduraDrive™ motor provides a smooth, quiet operation due to preventative engineering and offers speeds up to 12 MPH. A quiet, intense workout is possible with 2.5″ precision-machined rear roller which extends the life of the belt by reducing heat and wear. The belt itself is 22” x 62” which is great for those with longer strides and an incline/decline feature perfect for intensifying any workout. The Freemotion 850 has 32 built in workouts that automatically control your incline, decline, and speed to keep concentration fully on exercising. The handlebars contain built-in sensors to track your heart rate for goal-specific training and there is a built-in fan with 2 speed settings to help control body temperature. There is an acoustic sound system that allows the use of an iPod or MP3 player for your listening pleasure. We find where Freemotion decided to stop investing in the model with the 7” display screen. It is rather disappointing with all the technology available on this machine to find the display screen to be so tiny.

History
Our other reviews have said that the Freemotion 850 is one of the best values for the $1,200-dollar range. We have liked the big belt and motor that Freemotion uses and have used these structural features to overlook the other cut corners. Though we have noticed the frame’s quality has been stunted in order to meet the price range, we have known these treadmills to last for several years. We have said that this is a quality machine on a budget.
Conclusion
We often discuss machines that fall somewhere on a style and substance scale. Unlike most of Icon brand models, the Freemotion 850 leans more towards the substance side. While we like the fact that Freemotion created a more durable treadmill at a decent price, we would recommend looking into their next model. For only a little more money, you can have a treadmill that strikes a balance between both style and substance. Yet, overall, the 850 is a decent treadmill. This model has a sturdy build and will suit a casual jogger well.
